inconsistent gem names
Reported by Damian Terentiev | June 1st, 2008 @ 02:23 AM | in 1.0
Most of Merb gem names use a dash (merb-gen, merb-haml, etc…) but some use underscore (merb_helpers, merb_datamapper).
I've spent much time before understanding why `dependency "merb-helpers"` causes a LoadError.
Shouldn't we rename some gems to have consistent names?

This is being looked in tandem with some other updates; the end result will remove the confusion, whether dashes or underscores are used.

I believe plugins repository will be gone at some point or at least won't be considered supported by most of active contributors of Merb.
For now I'll close it because it's more about the whole future of merb-plugins repository.

Michael, could you please point me anywhere to clarify the future of merb-plugins? Where will it be gone? Why?

It's been discussed on the IRC and on the mailing list as well: largely unmaintained plugins like testunit probably will be extracted, most often used (merb_helpers, maybe merb_activerecord) will be come part of merb-more.
